Adverb

Introduction: Adverb

  • Adverbs are words that tell you more about verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs.
  • Subject+main verb+adverb 

Example:

  • He writes slowly.
  • The parents walked quickly into the room. 
  • Adverb modifies an adjective or another adverb. If an Adverb modifies an adjective or another adverb, then that Adverb is used before the adjective or another adverb. 

Example:

  • She is wonderfully
  • Tanya is a wonderful 

Types of adverb

ADVERB OF MANNER

  • Some adverbs and adverb phrases describe the way people do things. They answer the question “How?” 

Example:

  • The men answered all the questions correctly.
  • She was driving carelessly.
  • The helicopter landed safely.

ADVERBS OF TIME

  • Some adverbs and adverb phrases answer the question “when?” 

Example:

  • I am going to my new drawing class tomorrow.
  • The metro train has already left.
  • Our favorite TV Program starts at 8’ O Clock. 

ADVERBS OF PLACE

  • Some adverbs and adverb phrases answer the question “where?” 

Example:

  • It’s very sunny but cold outside.
  • The girls are playing upstairs.
  • That’s our bat there. 

ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY (HOW MUCH?)

  • It tells “HOW OFTEN” something happens. Express the importance/degree/level of the action in the sentence.

Example:

  • Suraj practices the piano regularly.  
  • The children always go to school on the bus.
  • The milk is delivered daily.
  • We walk home from class every day.
